OUR GREEN & CLEAN MISSION
As an eco friendly salon, we are passionate about a cleaner, greener planet and we make any decision we can to reduce waste and our carbon footprint. We are committed to becoming a carbon-neutral salon group and we have a Green Leader who is dedicated to implementing solutions and monitoring our progress.
Our aim is to integrate sustainability into every part of the day-to-day business and be a thought leader for other eco-friendly hair salons. We use Scrummi disposable towels - these are fully compostable and biodegradable within 12 weeks. They are made from 100% soft and natural biodegradable wood fibres from certified sustainable sources. We chose to use Bio D cleaning products as they use ethically sourced and plant-based ingredients. They are certified Vegan and cruelty-free as well as being made in the UK, reducing the distance travelled and their bottles are all made out of 100% recycled packaging.
OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH AVEDA
We’ve always believed that no one has to miss out on feeling great or enjoying high-end products whilst also being as eco-conscious and as ethical as possible, which is why we partnered with Aveda to become an Aveda Lifestyle salon group.
Cruelty-free – They have never tested on animals or will ask anyone else to test on their behalf.
Vegan – As of January 2021, the whole Aveda range contains no animal products or derivatives.
Recycled packaging – Aveda were the first beauty company to use 100% recycled packaging.
Windpower – Aveda was the first beauty company to use 100% wind power at their main manufacturing plant.
Naturally derived - Using naturally derived ingredients and fair trade pricing and practices, always.
Caring - Supporting and strengthening communities all across the globe through clean water initiatives that change lives.
MANAGING OUR WASTE
We want to reduce, reuse or recycle as much of the waste from our salons as possible. Green Salon Collective and First Mile allow us to do this.
Implementing Green Salon Collective into our salons was an easy decision, they are dedicated to recycling the unrecyclable in salons around the UK and Ireland. They recycle, compost and recover: hair, used foils, empty colour tubes, chemicals, PPE, plastic, paper and even salon disposable towels. 100% of any money raised from recycling the raw materials or new products made from the waste goes to charity. By recycling their profits, every month they support charities and organisations like Haircuts 4 Homeless, Food Cycle and Mossy Earth.
First Mile’s vision is to eradicate waste and make the world a greener place. They operate a zero-to-landfill policy and by giving them our waste (that doesn’t go to Green Salon Collective) we are able to divert any waste from landfill through recycling or composting (salon towels and food waste). Whatever First Mile can’t recycle they use to make green energy. They are able to provide us with monthly reports so we can see exactly how much we have recycled, composted and saved from landfills!
